The Market Folk: Get to know The Love Cleanse

Tell us a little bit about The Love Cleanse:

The Love Cleanse is centred around ‘living a life led by love’. TLC started as a Podcast with interviews focused on the stories behind gutsy-living with bold faith. As a lover of the power of words, TLC has now progressed to candles that feature signature poems on them.

What is your creative background?

In my previous creative life, I studied fashion design and owned a business where I designed wedding dresses.

How did The Love Cleanse come to be?

I was driving to work one morning in Byron Bay (where I worked for a local fashion label) and it dropped into my head. I remember repeating it in my mind a few times with curiosity for what it would be, and once I said yes to the name, it has taken on a magical life of it’s own.

What inspires you and your work?

I am constantly inspired by the potential and beauty of humanity to love deeply.

Is By The Love Cleanse your side project or is it your full time job?

Full-time job

Tell us about your work space?

I make candles from my kitchen at home, so I love to play music while I pour and am constantly moving around furniture and decor to refresh my space.

When I am not pouring candles, I am recording podcasts at the studio in the Brisbane library and I hop around on my Mac book between my pink velvet couch at home, cafes and the library.

Any advice for creatives just starting out?

Start before you are ready and learn as you grow! Also, perfectionism hinders so many of us from sharing our gifts. Be willing to let go of your ideas of perfectionism because it is hindering the world from experiencing something you have been gifted, that someone else is asking for.

What is your favourite product from your range?

My first candle called promises, because it is symbolic of dreams coming to pass.

Favourite Book, Band or Podcast right now?

Rise Podcast with Rachel Hollis. The Apricot Memoirs book by Tess Guinery.

Favourite way to unwind?

Beach swims at golden hour and coffee with friends.

What does 2020 look like for By The Love Cleanse?

An upcoming poetry book, my next candle collection, some inspiring podcast interviews with dream guests and it also looks like trusting what I have not even seen yet.

Good news!
